Greetings from the future.

We are Chris and Maria. This is our travel blog.

We met on February 23, 2013 at a bar in DC where we both lived — to clarify, we lived in DC not in a bar, although bar tabs some months did compete with rent checks (just kidding Moms).

We bonded over our mutual love of travel. Chris had lived abroad in China and Maria had lived in England and South America. On our third date, we talked about moving away together to another country someday. You know, if we made it to date four, five and so forth.

Fast forward two years … we bought one-way plane tickets to Beijing, quit our jobs, got engaged, traversed time and space, and landed in China on March 13, 2015.

We are writing this blog to keep our family and friends updated on our lives here, half a world away.
